Syömishäiriötä sairastavilla on alentunut libido ja enemmän seksuaalisia ja parisuhdeongelmia
kuin terveillä
- Laihuushäiriötä sairastavilla sukupuolielämä on sitä huonompi, mitä matalampi heidän
paino-indeksinsä on. Aikuisiällä vain puolella on partneri, 75 %:lla libido on alentunut
ja yli puolella esiintyy seksuaalisuuteen liittyvää ahdistuneisuutta. Ahmimishäiriötä
sairastavat ovat tyytymättömämpiä sukupuolielämäänsä kuin terveet naiset.
- In this international multicenter study «Pinheiro AP, Raney TJ, Thornton LM ym. Sexual func...»1 the authors assessed physical intimacy, libido, sexual anxiety, partner status, and
sexual relationships in 242 women (age 13-65 years) from the International Price Foundation
Genetic Studies relative to normative data. Intercourse (55.3 %), having a partner
(52.7 %), decreased sexual desire (66.9 %), and increased sexual anxiety (59.2 %)
were common in all groups of women with eating disdorders, and 44.7 % reported either
avoidance or absence of sexual relationships. Women with restricting and purging anorexia
nervosa had a higher prevalence of loss of libido than women with bulimia nervosa
and eating disorder not otherwise specified (75 %, 74.6 %, 39 %, and 45.4 %, respectively).
Absence of sexual relationships was associated with lower minimum lifetime body mass
index (BMI) and earlier age of onset; loss of libido with lower lifetime BMI, higher
interoceptive awareness and trait anxiety; and sexual anxiety with lower lifetime
BMI, higher harm avoidance and ineffectiveness.
- Sexual dysfunction in eating disorders was higher than in the normative sample.
Sexual dysfunction is common across eating disorders subtypes. Low BMI is associated
with loss of libido, sexual anxiety, and avoidance of sexual relationships.
- Tutkittavien syömishäiriön kestoa ei ollut kerrottu. Kontrolliryhmä koostui 202 irrallisesta
saksalaisesta naisesta (ikä 18–32 vuotta), mikä saattaa vääristää tuloksia.

This cross-sectional Italian study «Castellini G, Mannucci E, Mazzei C ym. Sexual func...»2 investigates the sexual functioning of a clinical sample of obese women affected
by BED (N=107) compared with obese non-BED patients (Ob, N=110), and with normal weight
controls (N=92).
- Patients were studied by means of the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV and
the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). Moreover, several self-reported questionnaires
assessing the eating specific and general psychopathology were used.
- BED and obese non-BED probands reported a lower sexual activity compared to controls,
in terms of absence of sexual intercourse rate, and sexual intercourse frequency.
BED patients showed lower FSFI total and subscales scores compared to Ob, and Ob probands
reported lower scores compared to controls. over half of the women with BED reported
some degree of distress on loss of libido, sexual anxiety and partner relationship,
Emotional eating was the main determinant of FSFI scores (FSFI total score, desire,
arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction) for both BED and Ob patients, while impulsivity
(inversely associated with FSFI total, orgasm, and pain) and shape concern (inversely
associated with arousal, lubrication, orgasm) were main determinants for BED patients
only.
- BED patients, compared to obese non-BED and controls, have worse sexual functioning,
which is associated with high levels of emotional eating, impulsivity, and shape concerns.
The relationship between sexual functioning and eating psychopathology should be carefully
addressed in obese patients with and without BED.
